I'm assuming that it'll create loads of files for all those previously junk pieces which were filling up my disk cache causing it to overload. So I read up some more and find the e_partfile setting. My disk cache is full of what I assume to be useless data which sits in the hundred or so 8Mb pieces I can see in the Pieces window. So this 1Gb file that I wanted was nowhere near done, yet the main progress bar had reached 100%. The weird thing is though, that even though the main progress bar showed 100%, the files screen showed the file that I wanted was nowhere near done. This gets all the way to 100% and then hangs on "flushing to disk".

I increase the cache until it is greater than size of the file I wish to download. When I've figured out that the error is new, I google it - and increase my disk cache. As I'm away from my machine, I don't even spot this error - as it's never happened before, and I'm not expecting anything there. Only, this error message is absolutely tiny in the status bar - it does not flash, it does not pop up, there is no warning. Speeds are very good, and then they hit a wall, which is when the "Disk Overloaded 100%" error shows up. I'm trying to download a 1Gb file in a 300Gb torrent. This was however, after a lot of wasted time.

It was solved by setting e_partfile to false. I've been using torrents for years, this is the first time I've posted to vent my frustration at client behaviour.
